Job Title: Federal Tax Compliance Supervisor

Department: Holdings

Location: Corporate

BASIC FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for the federal tax compliance and income tax reporting functions for Total Holdings USA, Inc. & subsidiaries. The primary focus of this position is supervision of all federal tax compliance, separate company and consolidated tax provisions, and research with limited transactional planning.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the detailed review of the U.S. consolidated corporate tax return, including forms 1118, 5471 and 5472, and supporting schedules; responsible for certain partnership tax returns; limited preparation work may be involved.
  • Supervise the preparation of the consolidated and subsidiary tax provisions for financial reporting purposes. Verify permanent and temporary differences with the objective of minimizing the cash and earnings effect of the companies' tax cost.
  • Assist in data preparation and documentation during tax audits, using statutory, regulatory or judicial authority to forcefully, but tactfully, support the company's position on issues during tax audits conducted by any federal taxing authority (also may assist with French tax audit inquiries).
  • Expected to keep abreast of changes in the federal tax laws as well as perform and/or manage research projects and special projects related to tax minimization strategies.
  • Have a high level of tax experience and in-depth knowledge of tax law and accounting , including experience with consolidated, multi-entity tax returns and FAS 109 accounting. A general ability to use sound judgment and interpersonal skills to obtain and determine the source, timing, significance and effective use of tax data is also necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting ; Master's Degree in Taxation preferred; CPA.
  • 7+ years experience in income tax compliance, research and reporting (preferably including two to four years in public accounting).
  • Experience with the U.S. Consolidated Return Regulations, FAS 109, and Sarbanes-Oxley experience is essential.
  • Some experience with U.S. international tax issues (primarily inbound) and related reporting is helpful but not required.
  • Energy industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to manage multiple professionals.
  • Proficient in MS Office, tax research software, and tax preparation software (preferably Insource).
