Job Title: Marketing Representative (level dependent upon experience)

Department: Polyolefins
Location: Houston Corporate Office

BASIC FUNCTION:

Within the geographic area of Mexico, Central America, and South America, this position is responsible for the acquisition of new accounts and the maintenance and/or growth in sales to existing customers in support of the Polyolefins business strategy. This position is also responsible for coordinating product qualifications through efficient use of the technical services group, obtaining and monitoring customer financial information and financial stability, providing market intelligence to management, negotiating prices within guidelines, and assisting with inventory management through monthly sales forecasting.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve the sales budget by finding, calling on, and closing prospects, and maintaining and upgrading existing accounts to improve the product and customer mix, carefully tailoring value proposition to maximize revenue in a competitive environment.
  • Provide input on new product requirements; sell new products and assist in product sales phase out to improve margins.
  • Coordinate the direct and indirect involvement with customers/prospects of TPI functions including credit, technical service, customer service, marketing, production planning, and management.
  • Submit timely and accurate call reports, price requests, accruals, rebate requests, sample requests, and complaints.
  • Interface with the credit department to assure timely payments from customers and provide current customer financial information to the credit department.
  • Represent TPI at the appropriate industry trade shows, conferences, etc.
  • Regularly communicate territory status and market conditions to management; issue various reports as required including sales forecasts, call reports, pricing reports, monthly status reports, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Technical field.
  • Strong sales or technical background.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiating skills.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and oral).
  • 50% travel.
