BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide legal services to Total Petrochemicals USA, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates in the United States.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commercial Transactions – Negotiate legal terms for commercial transactions including purchase agreements, confidentiality agreements, engineering and procurement contracts.
- Polymer Sales Business Support – General legal support for Polystyrene and Polyolefins sales groups including review and negotiation of polymer sales contracts and providing advice regarding customer disputes.
- Litigation Management – Oversee activities of outside counsel regarding discovery, motion practice, strategy and resolution of litigation involving employees, personal injuries, commercial disputes and environmental exposure. Advise department managers regarding potential or threatened claims. Develop and maintain outside counsel procedure and database of outside counsel fees. Address evidence preservation issues including the Electronic Document Preservation Process.
- Form Contracts – Draft and regularly update form confidentiality agreements and contracts for the purchase and sale of goods and services. Provide company-wide training to the sourcing group.
- Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Juris Doctorate required.
- Texas Legal License required.
- 5 years of legal practice in a law firm or corporation preferred.
- Experience with negotiating commercial transactions and/or lawsuit litigation.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Leadership, vision, and the ability to motivate others to act are desired qualities.
