Job Title: Financial Reporting Accountant

Department: Financial Accounting
Location: Houston Corporate Office

BASIC FUNCTION:

Ensure the integrity and timeliness in reporting the Company’s financial and management results in accordance with both IFRS and US GAAP accounting pronouncements as well as local and Group Accounting Policies. The Group is the primary liaison between Total Group Consolidations, Petrochemicals Consolidations, U.S. Holding Company, and the external audit team. In conjunction with the role it also helps administer the Groups financial reporting policies to ensure proper recording into the general ledger. Adherence to the Company’s Internal Control Framework and procedures.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to the Total Group for the Chemicals, Downstream, and Corporate segments in compliance to both IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Primary lead for Group reporting of overhead and personnel expense analysis reports.
    Prepare, coordinate, and distribute monthly management reports for the Chemicals, Downstream, G&A, and Corporate profit centers.
  • Prepare lead schedules (PBCs) to support quarterly and annual IFRS and US GAAP financial audit reviews by the external audit team.
  • Stewardship of the General Accounting Departments Sarbanes and Internal Control procedures. This includes the analysis of SAP user transactions that may impact these controls.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual schedules to accumulate sales data for tax organizations and calculate various financial accruals.
  • Analyze and report balance sheet and Operating Budget variances.
  • Continuous business process and associated accounting systems knowledge improvement to enhance job performance and skills.
  • Provide financial data, analysis and management reporting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of SAP a major plus.
